Griffin Ferguson is a Texas/Illinois-based lighting designer dedicated to creating artful, immersive, and atmospheric experiences to assist in engaging the audience in the story being told on stage. He believes lighting is a tool to blend all artistic elements together into a single fictional world. He has worked on shows with a variety of different needs and scales, ranging from small touring one-act plays, to black boxes, to high-end musical plots, and everything in between.
He is currently completing his BFA in Theatre with a concentration in Lighting Design & Technology from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he works as a lighting technician in the Krannert Center for Performing Arts. In addition to furthering his skills in lighting design, he aims to become more proficient in areas related to projections, rigging, and special effects.
Before moving to Illinois, he worked a variety of freelance design jobs for schools and small productions in his local area.
In 2025, he was recognized with the Outstanding Lighting Design award at the Tommy Tune Awards, a city-wide theatrical awards competition in Houston, Texas.
